Role and responsibilities

General Responsibilities (Goal and Objectives)

Provide a high level of technical expertise in railway asset management.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the creation and maintaining of an Asset Inventory Hierarchy.
  • Coordinate the development, documentation and maintenance of infrastructure asset inventories, conditions, rating methodologies, levels of service and performance measures, risk scoring criteria, maintenance strategies, repair/replacement models, financial forecasts and work plans associated with all asset classes.
  • Provide asset management strategies and tools for strategic infrastructure and program decision-making using system-specific Asset Management Plans.
  • Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement, building an effective asset risk mitigation program to improve asset reliability, reduce risk, and optimize spending and capital investments.
  • Develop and implement an Asset Management Communication Plan.
  • Develop and support infrastructure asset management champions to lead organizational change.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans for each asset that will govern its operations, position in the market, and ultimate disposition.
  • The model full life cycle of each asset from acquisition through disposition including investor returns under different scenarios.
  • Be able to manage and carry out the preparation of the schedule for the phasing of the works.
  • Manage the consulting mandates of their discipline.
  • Participate in economic analyses and market studies.
  • Participate in drafting service offers in railway asset management plans (methodology, cost estimation and work method).
  • Be available to carry out national and international mandates for several weeks or months.
  • Develop business relationships with clients to develop business opportunities.

 

Internal and External Relations

  • Internal: Interact with all company employees and provide support for railway asset management.
  • External: Develop business relationships with clients, suppliers, and other consultants and leverage this network for ongoing projects and increase client retention opportunities or new business.

 

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, computer sciences, or business intelligence.

Years of experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in asset management, business intelligence, data management and ideally in rail operations analysis.

 

Technical competencies:

  • Programming Capabilities.
  • Data Analytics and Predictive Tools.
  • IAM 55001 certification is an asset.

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English and French.
  • Familiarity with working in a GIS environment.
  • Knowledge of the conventional rail environment (freight and mining context) is an asset.
