Role and responsibilities

  • Head of the draftsman team;
  • Design linear railway and yard projects;
  • Support the team in the creation of technical drawings;
  • Supervise the production of plans and graphic deliverables;
  • Produce technical plans from conceptual sketches and validate concepts through verification;
  • Support project teams to develop estimates and quantity schedules;
  • Finalize all aspects of a railway alignment (horizontal geometry, vertical profiles and cross sections);
  • Ensure the application of cross sections along the project and ensure the elimination of possible calculation clashes;
  • Design Templates on Open rail / Open road or assembly and sub-assembly composer, on civil 3D and roll them on a corridor as well as modeling;
  • Provide design solutions at different phases of the study (Preliminary, Feasibility, Submission, construction);
  • Analyze survey data and produce detailed 3D surface models.

 

Qualifications

Education: College Diploma in Civil Engineering or Bachelor in Civil Engineering

Years of experience: 10 to 15 years of experience in railway design or combination of rail and road;

10 years of experience on design tools, the most recent version of Civil 3D design program, Sub-assembly composer. Bentley design products are an asset;

Technical competencies:

  • Relevant experience in producing detailed plans;
  • Relevant experience in calculating quantities of earthworks (backfills and cuts) using design software;
  • Relevant experience in handling Lidar and survey information;
  • Very good knowledge of design tools. Microsoft's Office suite is required;
  • Ability to read and understand topographic map surveys;
  • Ability to interact positively with others in a multicultural environment;
  • Knowledge of AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association), Transport Canada, CN and industry practices is an asset;

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Attention to detail and a job well done and respecting deadlines;
  • Able to lead a team and unifier;
  • Autonomous and able to manage priorities in a multitasking environment;
  • Fluency in verbal and written French.
