GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical expertise to colleagues or clients for civil and railway engineering mandates.
  • Member of a design team and resource person for service offers and engineering, feasibility, preliminary and detailed civil and railway engineering studies.

 

 

Role and responsibilities

  • Be a resource person for requests related to engineering questions, particularly those concerning the railway field.

Be able to contribute in:

  • Drafting service offers and studies in terms of methodology, cost estimation and working method;
  • Producing railway designs and detailed technical notes and calculations;
  • Developing plans and quotes for submission and quotes for construction as well as technical specifications as well as the calculation of quantities and slips;
  • Carry out and provide support as needed in computer-aided design
  • Carry out inspections both nationally and internationally with the various applicable codes and standards;
  • Carry out the technical assessment and design the geometry of level crossings,
  • Establish the phasing of the work
  • Design and carry out various studies (technical, feasibility, etc.)
  • Develop business relationships with customers, suppliers and other consultants;
  • Ensure and monitor the quality of deliverables; provide technical expertise to colleagues or clients for civil and railway engineering mandates.

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; other railway training, an asset.

Years of experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in design of railway

Technical competencies:

  • Experience in the railway field is a requirement
  • Mastery of commonly used design tools, Autocad - Civil 3D. Bentley products such as Openrail, power rail track and Micro station are an asset.
  • Knowledge of various software is essential such as: MS Project, Office Suite

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Being a member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OEQ) is required.
  • Good knowledge of AREMA and North American railway industry standards. European or other standards are assets.
  • Interact with all employees of the company and all disciplines related to the railway (Drainage, structures etc.) and provide the required support.
  • Work alone or in a team on various projects and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Provide regular updates on the status and progress of the projects he/she is working on.
  • Fluency in French and functional level of English in order to be able to work closely in collaboration with stakeholders in Ontario.
  • Autonomous
