Mission:

 

SYSTRA Canada's Transit Division is an active participant in Canadian and international projects in the field of urban transport (mainly subways, tramways, and electric buses).

Reporting to the Urban Transport Manager, the Road and Rail Infrastructure Designer participates in the production of studies for the implementation of public transport infrastructure (metro, tramway) in a city. He produces drawings, plans and diagrams of road projects, based on sketches, engineering calculations, quotations, and diverse data. In this role, he or she participates in coordination meetings with various stakeholders, produce implementation analyses, produce plans and estimates, assist in decision-making and, more generally, provide the teams in place with the benefit of his or her experience in urban transportation.

Specifically, the Road and Rail Infrastructure Designer will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Analyze and identify project needs for road projects;
  • Identify the deliverables to be produced;
  • Participate and coordinate conception activities with the different contributors involved;
  • Mastering and training in the use of design and production tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM, VBA, GED...);
  • Participate and coordinate digital data acquisition activities to characterize the land (Lidar acquisition, UAVs, surveying...);
  • Support the redaction of functional specifications and technical quotes;
  • Helping to decide on the urban integration constraints encountered to develop an optimal railway layout.

 

The Road and Rail Infrastructure Designer will monitor the technical evolution of practices related to his areas of expertise in urban transportation and will participate in the drafting of the technical part of the service offers as well as in the development of the production methodology.

 

Profile sought:

You hold a university degree in civil engineering or surveying, and at least 5 years of experience in a consulting firm or construction company in railway infrastructure. You have held various design positions, in the implementation of road and/or rail projects.

 

You wish to contribute to the growth of the company, develop and transmit your skills.

 

You are methodical, rigorous, and proactive. In addition, you are reactive, autonomous, and innovative in your responsibilities.

 

You enjoy discovering new environments, you have proven expertise in your field, and you wish to make a long-term investment in an internationally renowned engineering group

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Good proficiency in French and English;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work as a team player in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Methodical, rigorous and proactive;
  • Advanced knowledge of track design software (Civil 3D)
  • Initiates to design practices in a BIM environment, an asset;
  • Familiar with topographic data acquisition techniques;
  • Interest in acquiring, applying and transmitting new knowledge;
  • Ability to take initiatives;
  • Must posses a valid driver’s license.
