Role and responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Discipline Leader - Traction Energy, the Senior CAT Engineer plans and takes responsibility for the complete production of technical documents relating to the Catenary specialty, on urban (tramway, metro) and inter-urban projects (Express Network, High Frequency Train).

  • He/she interfaces with the different disciplines with which the Catenary is involved (Support Functions, Systems, Civil Engineering).
  • He/she is the main contact for all matters relating to Catenary Systems, both internally at SYSTRA Canada and with partners and clients.
  • He/she develops and maintains his/her network of contacts within the SYSTRA Group in order to be able to call upon and/or propose services, to discuss technical issues and to obtain feedback on similar projects.
  • It develops and maintains a technology watch network with the various suppliers of catenary equipment/products as well as carrying out a mission of improvement/research and development of technological solutions meeting Canada's needs (cooperation with the CSA and participation in IEEE catenary workshops for the development of the normative reference system, partnership with universities).
  • He/she assists the Discipline Leader in responding to calls for tender for the various electrification opportunities on which the Passenger Transport Division is positioned.
  • With the support of the Discipline Leader - Traction Energy, he makes the most of his expertise and is actively involved in increasing the competence of the Catenary Division, with the ultimate aim of structuring it in a development context.

 

Qualifications

 

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field

 

Years of experience: Minimum 10 years of significant experience on urban (Tramway, Metro) and Interurban (Regional Trains, Express Networks) projects, experience on High Speed Line appreciated. International experience is an asset.

 

Technical competencies:

  • Supports the production of the following technical documents:

Definition of functional requirements, Pre-staking, Typical sectional view, Span and tilt calculation, Support sizing, Staking/HDC plan, Longitudinal profile, Elementary parts booklet, Foundations/anchors booklet, Assembly booklets, tilting booklet, Feeding and Sectioning diagrams, Pantograph-Catenary dynamic simulation

  • Technically coordinates the Catenary interfaces with the leaders of the different subsystems concerned
  • Takes charge of the technical analysis of offers from potential Catenary suppliers and writes the relevant recommendation reports
  • Participates in the cost estimates of the Catenary subsystem for the projects (CAPEX, OPEX)
  • Participates in the definition of the workload plan of the Energy Traction discipline and is in charge of its respect for the tasks/workshops that are under its responsibility
  • Participates in the various weekly project reviews in which he/she is involved
  • Mastery of IEC and EN standards. Mastery of IEEE and CSA standards is an asset.
  • Mastery of AutoCAD. Mastery of Civil 3D (or equivalent) and BIM experience an asset
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint. Experience with Electronic Document Management platforms (such as Aconex) an asset.
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible.

  • Mobile to carry out short-term assignments in Canada and/or abroad
