Job Summary

As a member of the Project Management and Management team of the Program Delivery Partner (PDP), the Senior Program Manager takes ownership of the projects which they are responsible for as designated by their line manager. They are responsible for meeting and, if possible, exceeding the client's expectations for these projects.  They will use their experience to promote a culture of best practices in health, safety, well-being and quality throughout the program. They will have to proactively engage with the site teams to understand the positive and/or negative points and work with the teams to develop resolutions that are best for program.

 

 

Role and responsibilities

  • Proactively engage the various on-site construction teams.
  • Understand the monitoring and engagement of key performance indicators, directly related to the established monthly measurement criteria.
  • Understand the management of resources, interfaces, and constraints.
  • Develop plans to improve the skills of all collaborators, including the supply chain, to ensure that we leave  better trained employees on site, in particular in connection with Humber College,  George Brown College and Telfer Business School, as well as our program training strategy.
  • Work closely with the project control team to maintain up-to-date performance measures across the program.
  • Oversee all phases of project management, including design, construction, quality control, personnel and budget management. 
  • Be the safety manager for all ongoing project work
  • Recommends and initiates changes in project execution plans, identify areas for improvement to be proposed to the sector concerned in business and operating processes.
  • Interacts with customers and other stakeholders to ensure goals are met.
  • Manages external relations important for the realization of the project (e.g. statutory authorities).
  • Establishes and maintain excellent working relationships with, for example, architects, electrical and mechanical consultants, civil and structural engineers, building experts, structural experts, real estate consultants, planning consultants, contractors, cost consultants and other specialists.
  • Builds and maintains networks with peer project teams and other disciplines.
  • Tracks key industry/profession trends through networking and professional development.
  • May represent the consotrium on professional institutions, sector committees, boards of directors, etc.

 

 

Required skills

Formation: Diploma, or equivalent with professional experience, in one or more disciplines of project management and construction management, or other relevant discipline

Number of years of experience: Minimum 10 years of experience Professional Relevant

Technical skills:

  • Membership in a key industry association, such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
  • In-depth understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of realization, planning, delivery and site logistics.
  • Detailed knowledge of contractual and commercial procedures. Ability to conduct negotiations with third parties.
  • Strong project management expertise
  • Experience in vetting market intelligence and sharing with the multiple stakeholders
  • Mastery of technology, software, and desktop applications, including BIM and data management.
  • Fluency in English, spoken, read, and written.
  • Fluency in French, spoken, read, and written, an asset.
  • In addition to mandatory training courses:
    • Membership / Fellow / Certified Fellow status with one or more professional institutions
  • Relevant CSCS Card
