Mission:

SYSTRA Canada's Transit Division is an active participant in Canadian and international projects in the fields of rail and urban transport (subways, tramways, and electric buses).

Reporting to the Urban Transport Manager, the Transportation Planning Coordinator carries out analyses and studies relating to land use, traffic and transportation planning on matters pertaining to the mobility of people and goods.

He is responsible for the definition, execution, and delivery of all analyses within the scope of the studies under consideration and for managing the production of these studies.

Specifically, the Transportation Planning Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:

 

Technical component:

  1. Coordinate mobility planning projects:
  • Supervise the collection, compilation, analysis, conversion, interpretation and update of data and territorial development plans for the assigned study areas;
  • Supervise the design of thematic maps and other communication documents using specialized geomatics software such as ArcGIS;
  • Perform spatial analyses and geo-processing using a variety of geomatics tools;
  • Supervise and contribute, as needed, to the production of diagnostic reports and analysis of the territory to promote the harmonious integration of transit systems and ensure the development of integrated mobility concepts consistent with the urban grid under analysis;
  • Supervise and contribute, as needed, to the development of public transit and road traffic models to support mobility analyses and assess needs accordingly;
  • Supervise and contribute, as needed, to the production of studies relating to transportation plans, the implementation of transit systems, the reengineering of bus networks, and the creation of transit hubs promoting inter-modality and passenger flows;
  • Contributing to the development and promotion sustainable land use and planning approach that encourages carbon-free mobility.

 

  1. Development of digital tools related to transportation planning:
  • Mastering the modeling tools used (ITSim, Quetzal, TESS...) so as to be able to explain to the clients the technical challenges dealt with by the different tools and to justify, if necessary, the results produced by these tools;
  • Contribute to the development and/or deployment of new digital tools related to transportation planning;
  • Interact with the scientific community and business partners to promote the development of such tools.

 

  1. Participate in the responses to calls for offers:
  • Participate in bid kick-off meetings;
  • Write technical briefs and other methodological materials related to his field of expertise.

 

Management component:

  1. Contribute to and carry out, when necessary, to the management of study mandates:
  • Participate in project follow-up and progress meetings with clients and partners and lead them if necessary;
  • Coordinate the resources assigned to the various planning projects;
  • Ensure compliance with the cost, deadlines, and quality objectives of assigned projects;
  • Ensure the application of the company's business management processes.

 

  1. Representing the company to its customers, prospects, and partners: 
  • Participate in mobility events to highlight the company's expertise;
  • Connect to the group's internal network of expertise in planning and digitalization.

 

The Transportation Planning Coordinator will also monitor emerging mobility trends and planning tools to stay at the forefront of innovations in transportation planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in transportation planning;
  • Proficient in French and English;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Knowledge of programming languages VBA et Python, an asset;
  • Knowledge of VISSIM software, an asset;
  • Ability to work as a team player in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Ability to plan and organize one’s work to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to lead and oversee the work of a team;
  • Methodical, rigorous and proactive;
  • Interest in acquiring, applying and transmitting new knowledge;
  • Creative and innovative mind.
