Role and responsibilities

Mission:

Reporting to the Mobility Director, the Transportation Planning Manager coordinates and leads the transportation and traffic planning technical production. He/she supervises mobility impact studies, modeling and simulation related to public transit and road traffic. In addition, he/she oversees proposals for bus network restructuring (electrified), intermodally and flow simulations. Responsible for the day-to-day implementation of all aspects of the project under his/her responsibility and ensures that the associated production schedules and budgets are met.

 

  • Assumes responsibility for the content of the assignments to be carried out, and re-specifies them with the project coordination teams and the clients, if necessary;
  • Ensures that the objectives of the missions for which he/she is responsible are met;
  • Supervises the realization of mobility-related diagnostics:
  • Supervises the collection, compilation, analysis, conversion, interpretation and updating of geomatic data and land development plans for the assigned study areas (demographic, economic, legal, political, cultural, sociological, physical or other factors affecting land use...)
  • Supervises the design of thematic maps and other communicative documents using specialized software for projects in various fields (environment, transportation, mobility...);
  • Supervises the production of diagnostic and analysis reports of the territory to promote the harmonious insertion of transportation systems in a dense urban fabric and to ensure the development of integrated mobility concepts in coherence with the analyzed urban fabric;
  • Assess the performance of the transport network studied and proposes relevant adaptations accordingly.
  • Develops concepts for the urban insertion of transportation systems and the spatial organization of urban mobility projects:
  • Oversees the development of urban insertion principles of a transportation system and architectural concepts in line with identified development needs;
  • Argues his ideas and develops his vision of development in favor of active mobility;
  • Oversees studies related to demand forecasting, traffic and urban design to measure the impacts of and on the transportation system and modal shift;
  • Oversees simulations of road traffic, rail traffic, transportation electrification, etc.
  • Develops solutions for sustainable mobility (preferential bus measures, pedestrian and bicycle facilities);
  • Presents plans to civil, rural and regional authorities and holds public meetings to present plans, proposals or planning studies to the general public and interest groups;
  • Participates in project progress and follow-up meetings with clients and partners;
  • Provides technical advice, prepares periodic reports and performs any related work as required;
  • Acts as an advisor on all matters related to his field of expertise and develops his general knowledge of the urban transportation market in Canada (subway, streetcar and bus);
  • Ensures the application of business management processes;
  • Participates in the preparation of technical proposals;
  • Represents the company to its customers, prospects and partners;
  • Ensures a watch on the evolution of mobility and planning tools;

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, engineering, urban or regional planning applicable to the urban mobility sector, or related field;

Years of experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in similar positions, including 10 years in traffic analysis, network optimization and traffic simulation or other similar experience;

 

Technical competencies:

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec (OUQ), or eligible;

 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Proficient in French (spoken, read and written);
  • Proficient in English (spoken, read and written), an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Ability to work in a team in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills;
  • Ability to organize and plan work;
  • Methodical, rigorous and proactive;
  • Interest in acquiring, applying and transmitting new knowledge;
