Jr. Civil Inspector

We are seeking a Junior-Level Construction Inspector/Civil Engineer for New York location.


The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting civil work such as steel framings, concrete slab, walls, footings, utilities, roofing materials, CMU walls, stairs and elevator construction in compliance with contract specifications and site plans. Candidate will be responsible for developing the civil/site engineering Work alongside with contractors. Review requests for Additional Work Order (AWO), preparation of descriptions/reasons/estimates for change orders, verification of work in place quantities for contractor payment applications, coordination of construction work with facility operations and other stakeholders and ensuring the safety and quality of the work.

The duties include (but not limited to):

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications, also possess the knowledge of mathematics with the ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field measurements and adjustments
  • Preparation of daily construction and inspection reports with detailed observations of contractor construction techniques and progress.
  • Assist with preparation of reports for weekly and monthly field inspections.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the project manager.

Qualifications for the Junior Construction Inspector/Civil Engineer should include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • OSHA and ACI certification is a plus
  • Professional approach and demeanour
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience in the related field
  • Possess a valid driving license
  • Ability to obtain, record field data and compile field reports
  • Ability to interpret specifications, working drawings and convey intent to the contractor
  • Possess independence and sound technical judgment
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with all staff, sub-consultants and clients
  • Confident, enthusiastic team player with a passion to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Computer skills Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, etc.
