Role and responsibilities

The Project Manager (PM) will work closely with the Corridor Lead on GO Expansion to ensure the best outcomes for the coordinated team. This position is part of the Metrolinx Program Team (PT), which is formed with MCS and Metrolinx teams to for GO Expansion.

 

The PM will take ownership on projects / scope under their control, as designated by the Corridor Lead. They will utilise their previous experience to drive a culture of best practice for health, safety, wellbeing, and quality across the programme. They will be required to proactively engage with the project delivery teams (PDT’s) to understand any positives and/or negatives, and work with the teams to develop resolutions that are best for programme.

  • supports the Corridor Lead in leading a major multi-disciplinary team of engineering manager, project manager/s and deputy project manager/s, including other specialists as the rise occurs. 
  • Safety leader across all project delivery works.
  • Proactive approach to engaging with the various Project Delivery Teams (PDT’s)
  • Must understand key performance indicator monitoring and engagement, directly linked to monthly measurement criteria established.
  • Must understand resource management, interface and constraints management.
  • Able to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.
  • Must be capable of supporting the Project Controls Centre and team to maintain up to date metrics on performance across the entire programme.
  • Recommends and initiates change to project delivery plans, identify areas of improvement to put forward to relevant area in business and operating processes.
  • Interacts with clients and other stakeholders to ensure that objectives are being met.
  • Manages external relationships important for project delivery (e.g., statutory authorities).
  • Builds and maintains networks with peer project teams and other disciplines.
  • Supports the development and delivery of implementation plans, establishing commercially beneficial delivery models and leading on innovation & best practice.

 

Qualifications

Education: Degree or equivalent with professional work experience in one or more specific disciplines in the Project and Construction Delivery Management disciplines

Years of experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar field

Technical competencies:

  • Solid understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, site logistics, commercial & legal / contract issues
  • Sound knowledge of contract & commercial procedures
  • Sound project management expertise
  • Stays up to date with key industry/professional trends through networking and Continued Professional Development (CPD) 
  • Knowledge of BIM and able to give advice to clients and articulate BIM strategy. 

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Understands data management. 
  • Proficient in office technology, software and applications.
  • Well-developed decision-making skills
  • The individual will take ownership to identify, solve and overcome challenges, whilst keeping other abreast of developments
  • This individual is expected to deliver results, striving to exceeds the clients’ expectations.
