Key Accountabilities & Responsibility 

  • Lead the MCS Cost Team: Manage and lead a team of dedicated cost professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and exceptional performance. 

  • Collaborate for Success: Build on the collaborative and integrated ways of working with the client’s cost management team for the success of the Project. 

  • Cross-discipline Coordination: Work closely with other project controls disciplines (including schedule, risk, document control and reporting specialists) and project functions (including commercial and contract administration) to ensure harmonious integration and alignment of efforts. 

  • Client Engagement: Serve as a point of contact for cost-related matters, nurturing relationships and building a solid rapport across stakeholders. 

  • Cost Control Expertise: Apply your comprehensive cost control experience to monitor, analyze, and manage project and contract budgets, ensuring adherence to financial parameters and timely identification of deviations. 

  • Change Control: Support the project in analyzing the impact to budgets of proposed changes and the preparation of memoranda for the change proposals. 

  • Variance Analysis: Conduct thorough variance analysis to identify discrepancies between planned and actual costs, providing actionable insights to enable corrective actions. 

  • Impactful Reporting: Support in the improvement of existing and development of new cost reporting, including fully integrated cost dashboards. 

  • Schedule-Cost Integration: Collaborate closely with the project schedule team to ensure seamless integration between project schedules and costs, enhancing overall project performance. 

  • Strategic Forecasting: Collaborate in the preparation of regular updates to, and analysis of, the projects EAC forecasts and measuring performance against this forecast. 

  • Strategic Recommendations: Provide strategic recommendations based on your analyses, contributing to informed decision-making processes that drive project success. 

  • Mentorship and Development: Nurture the growth and development of team members, including facilitating skill enhancement.

Technical Competencies Required 

The key technical competencies required to perform the role well are outlined below.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field or 15 years + within a Project Cost Management team or Cost Engineer on projects of 1bn+. 

  • Proven track record of at least 12 years of relevant cost control experience, preferably within mega or large-scale projects. 

  • Strong proficiency in cost management tools, software, and techniques. 

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to conduct in-depth variance analysis. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in integrating schedules and costs for comprehensive project oversight. 

  • Experience in transit, transportation, or Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects is a valuable asset. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders. 

  • Leadership experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team. 

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and the aptitude to provide strategic recommendations based on a data-driven insights. 

  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools. 

  • Relevant certifications such as PMI-SP, AACE CCP, or equivalent are desirable.
