Context

Conscious that the digital transformation is a differentiator in the industry, SYSTRA has made the move and has the ambition to become a digital front runner. More specifically, in Canada, SYSTRA is looking for its digital leader who will help the organization to achieve its ambitions.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Digital Leader will be responsible for the Digital department and will be involved in most of the business activities :

  • Bids preparation: identify ways digital innovation can enhance the SYSTRA value proposition and help improve the proposals SYSTRA Canada responds to.
  • Projects execution: staff projects, manage the digital team in each project and contribute to deliver digital excellence to the clients.
  • Financial performance: make the right decisions to control costs while delivering the quality.
  • Quality: help SYSTRA Canada reach the highest level of standard in the digital.
  • Innovation: promote innovation and insure SYSTRA Canada uses up-to-date digital solutions for the benefits of its clients and for its own benefits.

 

 

Role and responsibilities

The Digital Lead will be responsible for leading, implementing and managing the digital transformation and strategy within SYSTRA Canada:

  • Provide orientation the Systra Canada Digital Strategy.
  • Define and follow KPI’s to monitor the digital transformation, and to measure and report progress.
  • Define and implement digital environment for new projects.
  • Review, implement, coordinate the digital environment with partners, clients and within SYSTRA Canada.
  • Help produce 4D simulations from project data to facilitate wider program and stakeholder discussions.
  • Integrate the full life cycle of all disciplines involved in railway infrastructure and systems.
  • Prepare and implement digital training programs for internal, partners and client staff.
  • Be an active participant in SYSTRA group digital community.
  • Contribute to long term development of the digital environment by application of new techniques, tools, procedures, and practices.
  • Manage the Digital team (BIM, CDE, AIR, … and doc control colleagues).
  • Facilitate a project environment which is inclusive, diverse and celebrates our differences.
  • Create a high performing culture open to constructive challenges, seeking continual improvement and implementing lessons learnt.

 

Qualifications

Education: Relevant post-graduate degree or equivalent vocational qualification

Years of experience: Minimum 10 years in a Digital environment applied to industry

Technical competencies:

  • Proven track record in delivering digital solutions, establishing strategic plans and delivering business change.
  • Experience in developing and implementing digital engineering requirements for contracts.
  • Experience successfully managing digital environment of complex Project Technology projects
  • Knowledge of digital systems and solutions for transportation systems (BIM, Digital twin, AIR, EIR, GIS, …).
  • Experience managing and developing a diverse team.
  • Be a PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario) or OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec) licensed holder, or eligible to become one, an asset.
  • Fluency in English (spoken, read and written).
  • Fluency in French (spoken, read and written), an asset.

  • Provide senior leadership and direction over an integrated team, oversight, and indirect supervision of staff in a matrix environment.
    • Deliver timely feedback to ensure a cohesive operational unit and the optimum use of team skills.
      • Monitor work assignments for adherence to timelines and compliance with policies and processes.
    • Develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
  • Being a good communicator with a sensitive and customer focused approach to project technology management, use and proactively search for opportunities.
  • Persuade and influence others successfully towards a desired course of action through innovative approaches in pursuit of a better way.
  • Present clearly and communicates effectively, in a confident manner, with their audience in mind.
  • Set SMART objectives and efficiently manages resources and tasks.
  • Collaborate well with internal and external stakeholders, building trusting and respectful relationships. 
  • Exhibit a zero-tolerance approach to unprofessional, unethical, or unsafe behaviours
