Role and responsibilities

We are the Delivery Partner working with our client to leave a legacy of competent, capable and right-sized organization that leads to repeatable delivery success.

The Governance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the governance architecture, supporting processes, procedures are in place to support the successful development and delivery of the Subways Extension Program projects – Scarborough Subway Extension and Yonge North Subway Extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation a governance and assurance framework that provides levels of technical and financial control across the project and throughout the development and implementation phases aligned to the required benefits and objectives
  • Ensuring that those at the working level are empowered to make day-to-day decisions aligned to the overall project objectives
  • Share best practice, tools, templates and processes that support strong robust governance and trusted decision-making
  • Support to project leadership to develop and complete strategic / corporate governance requirements
  • Briefing and memos VPs/EVPs/C-suite
  • Manage checkpoint (1, 2, 3) providing compliance and stage gate support, planning and coordination
  • Forecast requirements – planning future requirements and briefing
  • Develop and manage the Integrated Assurance and Approval Plan (IAAP), that articulates and how, when and supporting logistics for assurance and approvals with the Sponsor’s office and other key client stakeholder
  • Support development and manage project Delegated Levels of Authority
  • Develop and management of Governance & Assurance Management Plans (GaAMP)
  • Working with Governance Process Leads to ensure integration of new/ updated processes and procedures to Mx CPG/ Knowledge Hub
  • Participate in and/or manage corporate projects as & when required to support business objectives
  • Supporting additional meetings / forums within as required

 

Technical Competencies Required: 

The key technical competencies required to perform the role well are outlined below.

  • Post secondary education, MBA preferred
  • 15+ years experience working in similar role, preferably within a project environment.
  • Project Management Qualification (PMP/IPMA/PMAC)
  • Experience working within government, setting up governance frameworks that focus on best for project and Value for Money outcomes
  • Ability to prioritize and work as part of a team, lead by example and demonstrate the key importance of governance to successful major infrastructure projects
  • Ability to work with C-Suite and other externals stakeholders with diplomacy and care
  • Strong understanding of requirements for successful governance for major projects, ability to apply lessons from other major programs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
