Mission

SYSTRA Canada's Transit Division is involved in Canadian and international projects in the fields of rail transport (conventional or high-speed trains) and urban transport (metros, streetcars and electric buses).

SYSTRA Canada is particularly involved in driverless light rail project in Ontario assisting in the client in the implementation of Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance support activities.

Within this project organization, SYSTRA Canada is looking for a Rail Systems Interface Engineer.

The Rail System Interface Engineer will take full responsibility of the successful interfacing between rail systems and Infrastructure on the automated metro project

 

Role and responsibilities

The Senior Systems Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

    • Plan, organise, control and lead the rail systems to infrastructure interfaces on the project.
    • Participate in and lead interface workshops as appropriate to define requirements related to the operation of the transportation system;
    • Formalize interface sheets between the transportation system and the infrastructure, plan and monitor the resolution of these interfaces;
    • Organize and conduct workshops to resolve these technical interfaces;
    • Formalize the input data requirements to be obtained from the Infrastructure teams for the design of the transportation system;
    • Perform a technical review of the transportation system design and its subsystems to ensure proper integration of the transportation system with the infrastructure disciplines;
    • Support the process of defining and identifying functional and technical requirements as required;
    • Conduct and support technical interface risk analysis;
    • Participate in workshops around the performance of the transportation system, including operation and maintenance prerogatives, operational safety and intramodality with other modes of transportation;
    • Write technical documents related to the identification and specification of interfaces with the transportation system;
    • Coordinate on-site and remote production resources;
    • Ensure the application of the management processes defined for the project;
    • Develop and / or participate in the development of the project’s interface management system
    • Develop and / or participate in the development of the project’s interface management plan, register and matrix
    • Develop and / or participate in the development of the project’s Interface Control documents
    • Monitor and control the progress of the interface management process andy performance indicators
    • Maintain and follow-up on the interface management action list and open interface issues.
    • Ensure coordination between the interface management processes and the other systems engineering management processes.
    • Provide technical input to rail systems interface requirements
    • Prepare minutes of meetings for interface meetings and workshops and monitor the resulting actions therefrom.
    • Participate in interfaces verification and validation
    • Review and check interface test procedures
    • Participation in Transit Business Unit activities:
      • Depending on his/her workload, the rail Systems interface Engineer may participate in other Transit Business Unit activities:
        • 1.      Participate in responses to calls for tenders:
        • - Participate in tender launch meetings;
        • - Write the technical memoranda related to his field of competence;
        • 2.      Connect to the group's internal network of expertise useful to the deployment of expertise useful to the sector of transport automation, asset management, operating performance, control and supervision of systems, transport safety ;

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field

Years of experience: 10 years of experience in the implementation of heavy mass transit systems in dense urban areas, including automatic metro solutions

Technical competencies:

  • Be a member of the P.Eng or be able to register
  • Fluency in English (spoken, read and written);

Personal & soft skills:   

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written ;
  • Ability to work as a team in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Ability to organize and plan his/her work;
  • Methodical, rigorous and proactive;
  • Interest in acquiring, applying and transmitting new knowledge;
