SYSTRA are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Crossrail and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.
We are expanding our Engineering Design teams in the UK as we have a strong forward workload delivering high profile infrastructure projects. We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our UK Drainage Design team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Drainage Design Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Drainage (Track / Highways) Specialist to further their career in a highly motivated and inspirational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Be a significant Senior member of the Drainage Team, developing the technical capability of the discipline and providing key leadership input.
- Support on project deliverables, particularly on HS2 MWCC, and with the general operations of the Discipline such as recruitment, business development, line management and CPD.
- Implement systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning and other activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation.
- Liaise with other discipline Design Managers to balance resources across the portfolio
- Support the Bid Manager with all aspects of Tender Preparation.
- Progress projects through preliminary and detailed design with emphasis on client requirements, value for money and innovation
- Liaise with clients and ensure their requirements are effectively communicated to the team
- Liaise with and co-ordinate UK and overseas multi-disciplinary design teams
- Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
- Supervise team members including all APM’s, Graduates and Apprentices.
- Project administration including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets
- Checks to ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System and assist in its development
- Ensure the identification of contract change from within the Drainage design team and work with the Change Manager to administer change in accordance with the contract requirements
- Assist and support the Engineering Manager and Project Director where required
- Identify new markets, clients and work streams to develop the Drainage function of the business
Experience
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or relevant subject
- Chartered Engineer (MICE or CIWEM)
- Significant experience in Drainage Engineering Design work from a track or highways perspective
- Practical knowledge and experience of drainage design, assessment, and maintenance work
- Team development and leadership experience
- Resilience, tenacity, attention to detail and a desire for continuous development and improvement
