Due to SYSTRA’s continued growth and strong pipeline we currently have an opportunity for an experienced Project Director to join our high performing team delivering across some of the most significant Highspeed and Conventional rail projects in the country.

 

This is a high profile, national role which can be based from our York, London, Manchester, and Birmingham offices, initially working from home under current restrictions with continued flexible working arrangements longer term.  This position will suit experienced, a committed individual that can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in combination with technical and commercial awareness allowing them to play a significant part in growing a dynamic, high performing team.

 

You will have experience in building relationships with internal and external clients and translating their challenges into successful opportunities for the business.

 

Main Duties

 

  • Consideration of commercial and proposal activities in the engineering business to maximise profit and enhance SYSTRA’s reputation with key clients.
  • Engaging with clients to ensure SYSTRA maintains a thorough understanding of current and future needs.
  • Accountable for overall technical, management and project performance within a mixed portfolio of projects and/or larger value, complex major projects from tender to implementation.
  • Engagement with wider SYSTRA UK and Group organisation to develop close working relationships and to harness offshore delivery capabilities, innovations, and technical excellence.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely project reporting.
  • Actively champion continuous improvement within a collaborative learning environment.
  • Build and maintain a strong external personal profile which promotes the key values of SYSTRA.
  • Familiarity with SYSTRA’s design/technical capabilities, operational processes, and procedures.
  • With the HR Department, contribute in the performance management process for staff assigned to the post holder.
  • Promote and sustain a constructive, supportive, and collaborative working relationship external and internal clients and colleagues.
  • Accountable for maintaining your project portfolios compliance to all Health and Safety requirements.

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Significant experience within the Rail or Infrastructure industries with proven track record of delivering complex projects to time, cost, and quality.
  • Membership of The Association for Project Management and/or membership of a relevant professional institution and/or relevant demonstrable experience.
  • Decisiveness in resolving project issues and or timely escalation and identification of risks and priorities.
  • Takes responsibility for promoting self-development, maintaining CPD and undertaking any identified training and learning to maintain current proficiency and keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practice.
  • Flexible with ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, membership/professional body roles, purposes, and activities.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and inter-personal skills.
  • High-level of IT literacy, proficient user of Microsoft Office tools Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and ProjectWise and MS Project.
  • A desire for accuracy and consistent, high quality work delivery.
  • Being results orientated with an ability to set goals for self and others.
  • Strong creative thinking skills with a focus upon innovation.
  • Ability to influence.
