The role will be aligned to some of the most high-profile rail infrastructure projects in the UK and presents a fantastic opportunity for growth within a thriving organisation. The role can be based from our York, Manchester or Birmingham offices with significant scope for flexibility and homeworking.



Main Duties:


  • Support the Contractor’s Engineering Manager (CEM) or Design Manager in the technical design delivery of rail and infrastructure projects.
  • To act as Client contact on technical issues and opportunities where appropriate.
  • Review and help to drive compliance with Heath, Safety and Welfare regulations and other relevant legislation e.g. Common Safety Method, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Work towards and support development of engineering management procedures to ensure compliant delivery of projects to governance.
  • Support Senior Design Managers to review the project technical scope to ensure that all technical disciplines that are required to complete the scope of work are represented during the production of tender proposals and project delivery.
  • Continually ensure that the technical delivery satisfies the project remit, and that this is confirmed through requirements management.
  • Attend regular design meetings with all disciplines to review technical progress.
  • Continually develop understanding of contract conditions, cost control and planning information requirements.


Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ideally BEng/MEng or equivalent.
  • Ideally membership of or working towards of a relevant professional institution.
  • Experience within the railway industry, particularly the technical delivery of multi-disciplined projects.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction principles and standards for NR.
  • Some understanding of applicable industry legislation including involvement with CSM & CDM
  • Knowledge of BIM and understanding of its application on projects.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team working; demonstrate effective working/communicating across teams within the company to ensure delivery of projects.
  • Self-motivated team player; able to work with the minimum of supervision
  • IT Computer literate – specifically CAD, Microsoft Office packages.
