The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a multi-billion pound, transformative, long-term railway infrastructure programme that will improve connectivity in the North of England.  It will support economic growth in the North and deliver real benefits for passengers and communities along this pivotal rail artery. 

 

SYSTRA, working as Designer for the East of Leeds Alliance since 2014, has been central to its success.  Now, with the programme moving into new delivery phases, we have identified a unique opportunity for an experienced Project Director to lead our high performing team.

 

This is a high-profile role in which you will be expected to deliver excellence to our clients by actively embracing our entrepreneurial business spirit and enthusiasm and promoting a culture of listening, teamwork, and employee empowerment.

 

As a Project Director within our business you will be pivotal to our continued success.  You will lead, influence, and collaboratively drive performance to achieve ‘win-win’ Alliancing outcomes founded upon your experience, commitment, excellent interpersonal skills, technical and commercial awareness.

Main Duties

 

  • Overall leadership of SYSTRA’s role within the Alliance.
  • Have a clear vision of what excellence looks like; communicate this vision with passion and credibility to inspire, motivate and lead our Global project team in achieving it.
  • Develop a diverse and inclusive culture; create a high performing, empowered, and engaged Global project team.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction through collaboration, meet and exceed Alliance expectations.
  • Accountable for SYSTRA’s successful delivery and performance across all measures.
  • Actively seek out new opportunities to positively contribute to the success of the Alliance.

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Demonstrable track record of successful delivery of complex major projects to time, cost, and quality in Rail or other appropriate sectors.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully developing and motivating high performing Global project teams.
  • Results orientated individual with the ability to set goals and objectives.
  • Personal flexibility and agility to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Excellent creative thinking skills focussed upon innovation and problem-solving.
  • Exceptional influencing skills.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and inter-personal skills.
  • Decisiveness in resolution of project issues, timely risk escalation and prioritisation.
  • High-level of IT literacy.
  • Membership of The Association for Project Management and/or membership of a relevant professional institution.
