SYSTRA are hiring! We are looking to strengthen our alliance partnership on one of the flagship network rail infrastructure projects in the UK with the hire of a Systems Design Integration Manager.  The role can be based from our York, Birmingham or Manchester offices with significant flexible working. The Design Integration Manager role is responsible for ensuring that all discipline designs are fully integrated with the design management strategy, organisation, roles, responsibilities and processes described within the TRU East of Leeds Alliance Governance Plan. The disciplines include: Signalling, Telecoms, High Voltage and Low Voltage supply, Scada, Protection and Controls, EMC, Earthing and Bonding Human Factors and Security.



Main Duties:

  • Ensure that appropriate alliancing behaviours and ‘best for project’ approaches are adopted at all times, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery of the Programme
  • Interface with the Design Integration Managers and project teams delivering the geographic packages of work.
  • Contribute to the creation of design programmes and cost estimates.
  • Working closely with the Design Delivery Manager to ensure the consistent delivery of all discipline designs in line with meeting the Client’s requirements in respect of programme, cost, safety and quality.
  • Ensure the integration of all systems disciplines’ designs across the programme, with accountability for ensuring provision of high-quality design deliverables within scope and programme.
  • Managing the interface with supplier’s/designer’s CRE.
  • Ensure designers coordinate with the Alliance Project Engineering team to progressively assure designs.
  • Ensuring design related TQs and RfIs are clear, concise and issued as soon as possible.
  • Plan, attend and facilitate design meetings.
  • Oversee the coordination of a robust change control system throughout the design phase, ensuring that changes are managed effectively, timely instructed, and commercially covered for the Alliance partners.


Experience Required:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in suitable systems engineering discipline.
  • Significant proven track record in multi-discipline engineering management in railway infrastructure with good working knowledge of systems disciplines.
  • Well-developed and proven organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • In depth experience of working on collaborative projects with multiple companies with a high level of understanding of stakeholder management.
  • High level numeracy and IT skills, with proven ability to expertly use a range of relevant software e.g. Projectwise.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to form positive internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
  • Personal resilience and ability to thrive in a challenging and fast-moving environment.
