SYSTRA are currently recruiting a fantastic development opportunity for an Assistant Bid Manager. The strategic Sales team is responsible for all pre-contract activity within SYSTRA Ltd, including Sales performance of the business, owning and managing corporate relationships and defining and implementing strategies to achieve planned growth in existing and new market areas.

We have established markets in High Speed Rail and Conventional Rail, and are looking to grow our market share in Environmental Services and Infrastructure.

We are working on some of the UK’s most high-profile rail engineering projects, including High Speed 2 and with key clients and stakeholders such as Network Rail, Transport for London and their supply chain. We have ambitious plans to grow our market share in Conventional Rail, and promote existing capability in Environmental Services and Infrastructure (specifically Highways).

To achieve our ambitious targets for growth, the post holder will work with the Strategic Sales team to support all aspects of sales activity, including business development, marketing and tendering.

 

Main Duties:

  • Supporting the bidding activity of the team
  • Monitoring new opportunities published by public and private sector clients
  • Completion of pre-qualification and tender documentation
  • Collation of information for bids and coordination of input from across the company
  • Compiling and editing CVs for submissions
  • Maintaining and updating databases to support the bid function, in particular the bid library case study repository (RefCom).
  • Supporting business development activity as necessary including researching new and potential clients in support of the business development team
  • Supporting the marketing team in all aspects of internal and external communications, and marketing including direct communications, intranet and website maintenance, online and face-to-face communications and production of marketing collateral.

Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Degree in relevant subject (desirable not essential)
  • Interest in and/or knowledge of the transport sector
  • Understanding of the basics of sales, marketing and tendering
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • A team player
  • Good presentation skills
  • Able to demonstrate excellent client relationship skills
  • Innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to empathise with clients and understand their needs
  • Ability to multi-task prioritise and work well under pressure
