The Digital Engineering Lead is a new and exciting leadership role that will enable SYSTRA to meet the challenges of a highly successful and growing business providing focus on, and driving excellence across, our digital engineering services and project delivery. The role can be based from any of our key UK Engineering offices (ideally York, Birmingham or Manchester) with the flexibility of hybrid working.

SYSTRA have a highly skilled and experienced digital engineering and Information Management team providing cutting edge solutions and systems supporting Engineering Design and Construction Delivery on some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in the world.   

The Digital Engineering Lead will be responsible for developing and delivering the UK & Ireland Digital Engineering Strategy including: Sales and services, capabilities, systems, process and innovation, and will bring together our Digital Engineering, Information Management and Project Technology teams into fully transverse business function.   

The role will provide direct leadership and management of the Digital Engineering, Information Management, Information Control and Project Technology teams that are currently delivering on UK and overseas projects, including HS2 and some of the largest UK conventional rail projects.   The role will build on existing capabilities to consolidate and advance digital engineering capabilities and services to ensure SYSTRA remain at the forefront of technological change, including automation and use of AI within our own projects and to influence how engineering and construction project are delivered.

SYSTRA are driving digital advancement across our international business units.  The UK & Ire DE lead role will work closely with global digital leads to develop a fully connected team. SYSTRA are committed to investing in emerging technologies and services so the DE Lead will work closely with senior leadership to identify and advise on digital M&A, partnering and investment opportunities that align to, enhance and expand SYSTRA’s own capabilities and services.

 

Main Duties:

  • Provide ownership of the UK/IRE digital engineering strategy working closely with UK & Ireland Technical Director and senior leadership team.
  • Management and development of Core digital engineering teams to support project delivery grow digital services and capabilities.
  • Enhance digital engineering compliance, governance, and reporting across SYSTRA Ltd.
  • Drive and enhance learning and development to ensure SYSTRA continually develops our people.
  • As part of the digital engineering strategy work with the UK&IRE technical director and UK Sale Director to set out a digital Engineering growth and sales plan. 
  • Develop the Digital Engineering Innovation programme working with the SYSTRA Improvement and Innovation lead.
  • Drive industry engagement across SYSTRA Ltd, and the wider industry sector.
  • Support collaboration across our technical teams and wider technical networks across SYSTRA Globally. 

 

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Ideally Degree Qualified and Chartered Professional/Membership of professional institute.
  • Membership or participation on UK / international committees, forums or steering groups.
  • Proven track record in delivering digital solutions, establishing strategic plans and delivering business change from a relevant industry background.
  • Proven track record in delivering Engineering, Digital or BIM solutions and systems for complex infrastructure projects, Ideally with experience in Rail but not essential.  
  • Ideally knowledge of Network Rail and/or HS2 digital systems and solutions.
  • Knowledge of BIM and collaboration tools
  • Integrity and high professional standards in line with the Engineering council Charted Engineer attributes
  • Exhibit a zero-tolerance approach to unprofessional, unethical or unsafe behaviours
  • Experience of collaborative working relationships
