SYSTRA are hiring! We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Principal E&P engineer to join our team in York. This position within our MEP engineering team will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in a dynamic high-performance team. This role can be filled on a flexible working basis.

Main Duties:

The principal E&P engineer’s main duties will to be act as E&P/MEP Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and or Lead Engineer on E&P/MEP projects allocated to them by the team leader and to be responsible for:

  • Ensuring projects are completed to meet all client’s requirements and applicable standards.
  • Ensuring projects are completed to the agreed project programme.
  • Ensuring projects are completed to the agreed budget.
  • Plan the project works and provide forward view resource forecasting to enable the team leader to allocate suitable resource to the projects.
  • Identify changes to the projects client requirements and raise the changes with the Systra Project Management Team

 

The Principal E&P Engineer will be accountable for the design delivery of allocated E&P/MEP Projects.

  • This role requires considerable professional experience and expertise in order to manage complex or non-standard design solutions..
  • Have a good understanding of CSM/CDM regulations and requirements.
  • Good communication and presentation skills  for external presentations to clients.
  • Management of an E&P/MEP team of engineers on allocated projects
  • Maintaining good relationships with all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company.
  • Maintaining good relationships with principal engineers from other internal discipline teams to promote good inter-discipline working relationships and a “One Team” ethos.

Desirable knowledge and skills 

  • Detailed knowledge of Electrical Design within the Railway Environment including Signalling Power, Points Heating, Junction Lighting, Station Building Services.
  • Has carried out the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) on projects and is recognised as a CRE within the industry.
  • Detailed knowledge multi- disciplinary interfaces associated with E&P & MEP designs in a railway environment.
  • Knowledge of working in Network Rail IP Projectwise & BIM Standards.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working/communicating across teams within the company to ensure delivery of projects
  • Self-motivated team player, able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards.
