We are currently hiring for two talented Project Managers to manage and oversee a portfolio of challenging and transformational projects within a key business sector and lead individual projects on behalf of Systra Consultancy. The role will hold overall responsibility for the successful and safe delivery of projects to agreed time, budget and quality. The role can be based from our York or Manchester offices with extensive flexibility to work from home.


Main Duties


  • Lead, direct and oversee project delivery activities working within the specific business sector and maximise the performance across the project portfolio.
  • Ensure the provision of a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management services to clients.
  • To actively liaise and engage with project team members to provide appropriate support to projects and bids.
  • Represent and act as the link with wide PMO, resources and work closely with, the specified business unit(s) to ensure the PMO ‘delivery partnership’ supports, enhances, and delivers across the full portfolio of projects.
  • Maintain oversight of compliance, effectiveness, and performance across the portfolio.
  • Undertake contract reviews throughout the project life cycle.
  • To secure work by leading, managing and co-ordinating bids when acting as Bid Manager, in accordance with Project Governance and IMS Procedures.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Carry out regular project performance assessments in line with Project Governance and periodic review requirements.
  • Ensure regular effective communication with Client and project team.


Knowledge & Skills Required:


  • Significant relevant industry related project management experience and proven success in the management of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Relevant experience managing multiple, major and /or complex high-risk project(s).
  • Membership of The Association for Project Management and/or membership of a relevant professional institution and/or relevant demonstrable experience.
  • Ability to address and successfully navigate project politics
  • Understands the interfaces of multiple related projects to ensure the overall programme is aligned and supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Sound management techniques with the ability to apply these through all project phases.
  • Solid communication skills within and across disciplines to drive project team delivery within the company.
  • A team player capable of leading and driving team members to achieve project goal(s).
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work well under pressure.
  • Thorough understanding of risks, liability and exposure and appropriate measures of mitigation and control.
  • Environmental and sustainability knowledge.
  • Ability to demonstrate a drive for results in line with business needs.
  • Ability to collaborate in order to achieve a common objective, for projects and / or business objectives.
  • Proficient use of software programs, including Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and Projectwise.
  • Flexibility to adopt changing priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities.
